The XVI International Congress for Mine Surveying (ISM2016) offers delegates and their guests an extensive and exciting optional social program during their stay in Brisbane. Registration for these social events will be available through the online registration form from December 2015.

Meet with your fellow delegates before the official Congress begins for a networking evening at one of Brisbane’s newest venues. The Charming Squire brings to life the story of the original charming rogue, James Squire – the infamous, yet charismatic, creator of award-winning and flavoursome beers.
With a unique venue design that evokes a sense of history and storytelling and an inspired menu, enjoy the full range of local Australian craft beers and ciders on tap, along with delicious canapés. From the River Room, attendees will have a full view of the brewers and main bar.

The Organising Committee are excited to announce the venue for the ISM2016 Congress Dinner as the historical Brisbane City Hall. Brisbane City Hall reopened in April 2013 after an extensive $215 million three year restoration. This stunning, heritage building is located in the heart of the city and is sure to provide an inspiring atmosphere as the venue for this event.
The ISM2016 Gala Dinner will be the premier event of the Congress and is not to be missed by delegates and guests.

Following the close of the Congress on Thursday afternoon, this optional dinner presents the perfect opportunity for delegates to farewell their international colleagues, as well as new and old friends.
With sweeping views of the Brisbane skyline and river, the Rydges Level 12 Rooftop is the ideal setting for the evening of the Congress. Delegates will enjoy a modern Australian menu along with magnificent, uninterrupted panoramic views of the Brisbane river and city skyline.

Unfortunately the Ipswich Mine Historical Tour has been cancelled. A formal presentation to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the AIMS Ipswich has now been planned during the Congress program on Thursday 15 September 2016.
